Crossmember - Removal — Front Suspension
ℹ NOTE
Use a grease marker to mark the lower control arm cam bolts with reference points to ease with the wheel alignment.ℹ NOTE
Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the location of the engine support cradle.










- Install engine support tool or equivalent.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the lower control arms, Front Lower Control Arm - Removal.
- Remove the stabilizer bar, Front Stabilizer Bar - Removal.
- Remove the front axle, if equipped, Removal.
- Remove the power steering rack, Steering Gear - Removal.
- Loosen the engine mount through bolts.
- Support the engine cradle with a suitable lifting device.
- Remove the engine cradle support bolts and remove the engine cradle.
Crossmember - Removal — Transmission


- Remove the transmission skid plate. Transmission
- Remove the transfer case skid plate. Transfer Case
- Support the transmission with a suitable lifting device.
- Remove the four transmission mount nuts from the crossmember.
- Remove the six bolts (2) and remove the crossmember (1).
Crossmember - Installation — Front Suspension
ℹ NOTE
Refer to the reference marks made during cradle removal procedure and align the cradle to those marks.







- Place the cradle on a suitable lifting device, then raise the engine cradle into the vehicle while lining up the engine mount through bolts.
- Install the cradle mounting bolts and tighten the front bolts to 122 Nm (90 ft. lbs.) and tighten the rear bolts to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the engine mount through bolts to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.).
- Install the steering gear, Steering Gear - Installation.
- Install the front axle, if equipped, Installation.
- Install the stabilizer bar, Front Stabilizer Bar - Installation.
- Install the lower control arms, Front Lower Control Arm - Installation.
- Lower the vehicle and remove the engine support tool.
Crossmember - Installation — Transmission


- Install the crossmember and six bolts and tighten the bolts to 47 Nm (35 ft. lbs.).
- Install four transmission mount nuts and tighten to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.).
- Remove the transmission lifting device.

CROSSMEMBER - FRONT SUSPENSION
1. Install engine support tool 8534 or equivalent.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
NOTE: Use a grease marker to mark the lower control arm cam bolts with reference points to ease with the wheel alignment.
3. Remove the lower control arms. Refer to REMOVAL .

4. Remove the stabilizer bar. Refer to REMOVAL .
1 - RACK & PINION 2 - HIGH PRESSURE HOSE 3 - POWER STEERING PUMP 4 - HIGH PRESSURE HOSE BRACKET 5 - RACK & PINION MOUNTING BOLTS
5. Remove the front axle, if equipped. Refer to REMOVAL . 6. Remove the power steering rack. Refer to REMOVAL .
1 - ENGINE MOUNT 2 - THROUGH BOLT 3 - ENGINE CRADLE CROSSMEMBER
7. Loosen the engine mount through bolts.
2 - ENGINE CRADLE CROSSMEMBER 3 - ENGINE CRADLE SUPPORT BOLTS (4)
NOTE: Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the location of the engine support cradle.
8. Support the engine cradle with a suitable lifting device. 9. Remove the engine cradle support bolts and remove the engine cradle.






CROSSMEMBER - FRONT SUSPENSION
2 - ENGINE CRADLE CROSSMEMBER 3 - ENGINE CRADLE SUPPORT BOLTS (4)
1. Place the cradle on a suitable lifting device, then raise the engine cradle into the vehicle while lining up the engine mount through bolts.
NOTE: Refer to the reference marks made during cradle removal procedure and align the cradle to those marks.
2. Install the cradle mounting bolts and tighten the front bolts to 122 N.m (90 ft. lbs.) and tighten the rear bolts to 115 N.m (85 ft. lbs.). 3. Tighten the engine mount through bolts to 88 N.m (65 ft. lbs.).

4. Install the steering gear. Refer to INSTALLATION .

5. Install the front axle, if equipped. Refer to INSTALLATION . 6. Install the stabilizer bar. Refer to INSTALLATION .
7. Install the lower control arms. Refer to INSTALLATION .
8. Lower the vehicle and remove the engine support tool.

CROSSMEMBER - TRANSMISSION
1 - CROSSMEMBER 2 - BOLTS (6)
1. Remove the transmission skid plate. See REMOVAL. 2. Remove the transfer case skid plate. See REMOVAL. 3. Support the transmission with a suitable lifting device. 4. Remove the four transmission mount nuts from the crossmember. 5. Remove the six bolts (2) and remove the crossmember (1).
