Full Open Retractable Roof — Rear Drive Assembly - Installation
ℹ NOTE
Front drive assembly shown, rear drive assembly similar.ℹ NOTE

It may be necessary to twist the cables while pushing to fully install the cables.△ CAUTION
When moving the drive assemblies without the motors attached make sure that the assemblies are moved straight back.△ CAUTION

Do not install the motor using any twisting motion. Always install the motor straight and use the screws to draw the drive gear into the drive cables.ℹ NOTE
When ever the motors are removed, the screws (2) need to be discarded and replaced with new service screws and washers.ℹ NOTE
Apply 5 grams of Nyogel 729F Grease to the drive track only (3).






- Install the drive links (5) onto the drive assembly end caps (4) with the tear drops (2) toward the caps (3), the bevels (1) out and the nylon buttons (4) up.
- Push the drive cables into the tracks leaving the hole in the cable end (3) exposed.
- Insert the rear of the drive assembly (1) into the drive channel.
- Connect the drive links (4) to the drive cable ends (3) and make sure that the nylon buttons (2) are facing up.
- Push the drive assembly back into the tracks.
- Manually push the rear drive assembly (1) rearward fully.
- Using a small screwdriver or equivalent, make sure the cable ends (2) are in contact with the frame (3).
- Position the rear drive motor (1) up onto the motor mounting plate.
- Install the motor screws (2) and draw the motor up evenly using the motor screws.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Clean the tracks (1), Track Cleaning Process.
- Install the top assembly and sliders (2) back to front into the tracks (1) and slide back unrolling the top as you proceed.
- Manually position the rear drive assembly about 300 mm (12 inches) open, Full Open Retractable Roof.
- Position the rear of the cover down over the rear drive (1) and seat fully.
- Install the five screws (2).
- Line up the headliner (3) center notch with the center screw (2) and seat the headliner hook and loop strip (3) fully.

Full Open Retractable Roof — Front Drive Assembly - Removal
ℹ NOTE
Discard the screws (2) and replace with service screws and washers.△ CAUTION

- Drop headliner down as needed to gain access to the motors, Headliner - Removal.
- Disconnect the module electrical connector.
- Manually position the front drive assembly about 300 mm (12 inches) open. Full Open Retractable Roof
- Remove the three screws (2) and separate the front motor (3) from the roof system.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1) and remove the motor.
- Manually position the front bow and drive assembly (1) back about 300 mm (12 inches).
- Separate the headliner hook and loop strip (3) and expose the drive mechanism.
- Remove the five screws (2) and separate the cover assembly from the drive (1).
- Remove the wind deflector. Wind Deflector - Removal
- Remove the couplers (1). .
- Remove the front cam plates (2). Cam Plate - Removal
- Move the front drive forward to gain access to the nylon pin (2).
- Carefully remove the two nylon pins (2) and separate the cover assembly (1) from the drive assembly cap (3).
- Remove the nylon push pins (2).
- Disconnect the drive link (4) and remove the drive assembly (1).
- Pull cables out slightly.
Full Open Retractable Roof — Front Drive Assembly - Installation
ℹ NOTE
It may be necessary to twist the cables while pushing, to fully install the cables.△ CAUTION

- Push the drive assembly back into the tracks.

- Manually push the front drive assembly (1) fully forward.
- Using a small screwdriver or equivalent, make sure the cable ends (3) are in contact with the frame (2).
- Position the front drive motor (1) up onto the motor mounting plate.
- Install the new motor screws (2) and draw the motor evenly using the motor screws.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Position the forward lift arm (2) over the front drive assembly (3) and install the compression spring (1).
- Lower the lift arm (2) and line up the hole in the lift arm with the hole (4) in the front drive assembly (3).
- Insert the nylon pin (2) with the slot in the end, in the horizontal position.
- Seat the pin (2) fully.
- Manually position the front and rear drive assemblies about 300 mm (12 inches) open. Full Open Retractable Roof
- Install the couplers (1).
- Install the wind deflector. Wind Deflector - Installation
- Position the front of the cover down over the front drive assembly and seat fully.
- Install the five screws (2) and seat the headliner hook and loop strip (3) fully.
- Connect the large electronic control unit (ECU) electrical connector.
- Install the headliner. Headliner - Installation
- Re-initialize ECU. Full Open Retractable Roof
Full Open Retractable Roof — Motor Mounting Plate - Removal
ℹ NOTE
Both motor mounting plates must be removed when servicing one or the other. It is necessary to remove both plates in order to remove the rivet pieces from the roof rail.ℹ NOTE

- Manually position the front bow and drive assembly (1) forward fully.
- Manually position the rear drive assembly about 300 mm (12 inches) open, Full Open Retractable Roof.
- Separate the headliner hook and loop strip (3) and expose the drive mechanism.
- Remove the five screws (2) and separate the cover assembly from the drive (1).
- Remove the three screws (2) and separate the rear motor (3) from the roof system.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1) and remove the motor.
- Manually position the rear bow and drive assembly (1) rearward fully.
- Remove the rivets (3) and remove the motor mounting plates.
- Using a magnet (3) draw out the remaining rivet pieces through the cable guide openings (1) in the rail (2).

- Position the rear of the cover down over the rear drive (1) and seat fully.
- Install the five screws (2).
- Line up the headliner (3) center notch with the center screw (2) and seat the headliner hook and loop strip (3) fully.
- Manually push the front drive assembly (1) fully forward.
- Using a small screwdriver or equivalent, make sure the cable ends (3) are in contact with the frame (2).
- Position the front drive motor (1) up onto the motor mounting plate.
- Install the motor screws (2) and draw the motor evenly using the motor screws.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Manually position the front and rear drive assemblies about 300 mm (12 inches) open, Full Open Retractable Roof.
- Position the front of the cover down over the front drive assembly and seat fully.
- Install the five screws (2), and seat the headliner hook and loop strip (3) fully.
- Connect the large ECU electrical connector.
- Install the headliner, Headliner - Installation.
- Re-initialize ECU, Full Open Retractable Roof.
Full Open Retractable Roof — Rear Drive Assembly - Removal
ℹ NOTE
Discard the screws (2) and replace with service screws and washers.△ CAUTION
When moving the drive assemblies without the motors attached make sure that the assemblies are moved straight back.


- Remove the front drive assembly. Front Drive Assembly - Removal
- Remove the three screws (2) and separate the rear motor (3) from the roof system.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1) and remove the motor.
- Manually position the rear bow and drive assembly (1) forward about 300 mm (12 inches).
- Separate the headliner hook and loop strip (3) and expose the drive mechanism.
- Remove the five screws (2) and separate the cover assembly from the drive (1).
- Slide the cover and slider assembly (2) out of the front of the tracks and roll up backwards as you go.
- Remove the cover assembly from the vehicle.
- Slide drive assembly forward and remove.
- Pull cables out slightly.
Full Open Retractable Roof Motor - Installation
△ CAUTION
When moving the drive assemblies without the motors attached make sure that the assemblies are moved straight forward or rearward.△ CAUTION
Do not install the motor using any twisting motion. Always install the motor straight and use the screws to draw the drive gear into the drive cables.


- Manually move drive assembly to the fully closed position. a.For front motor installation, manually push the front drive assembly (1) fully forward. b.Using a small screwdriver or equivalent, make sure the cable ends (3) are in contact with the frame (2).
- Manually move drive assembly to the fully closed position. a.For rear motor installation, manually push the rear drive assembly (1) fully rearward. b.Using a small screwdriver or equivalent, make sure the cable ends (2) are in contact with the frame (3).
- Position the drive motor (1) up onto the motor mounting plate.
- Install the motor screws (2) and draw the motor up evenly using the motor screws.
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the headliner, Headliner - Installation.
- Connect battery negative cable.
- Re-initialize roof assembly, Full Open Retractable Roof - Retractable Roof Initialization Procedure.
Full Open Retractable Roof Motor - Removal

- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Drop rear of headliner down as needed to gain access to the motor, Headliner - Removal.
- Remove the three screws (2) and separate the motor (3) from the roof system.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1) and remove the motor.
Sunroof Motor - Installation




- If sunroof was open when drive motor was removed, carefully move glass panel into closed position and remove glass panel. Sunroof Glass - Removal
- Set lifter arm timing by manually sliding the mechanisms (1) in the track until timing holes in the trolleys are aligned with the timing holes in the lifter arm cams (2) and insert pins (3) into the mechanisms to hold mechanisms in closed position.
- Place motor (3) into position and install screws (4) attaching motor to bracket (2).
- Tighten the screws (4) to 3 Nm (26 in. lbs.).
- If sunroof glass panel was removed previously, remove the timing pins and install the sunroof glass panel. Sunroof Glass - Installation
- Partially install the headliner and connect the sunroof wiring electrical connectors. Headliner - Installation
- Temporarily install sunroof switch and perform the sunroof motor teach procedure. Drive Motor Teach Procedure.
- Test sunroof operation, adjust glass as necessary. Adjustments

Sunroof Motor - Removal


- Remove headliner. Headliner - Removal
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1).
- Remove three motor assembly attaching screws (4) from bottom side of motor assembly (3) and remove motor assembly from the motor bracket.

DRIVE ASSEMBLY - FRONT
1 - REAR DRIVE MOTOR 2 - FRONT DRIVE MOTOR 3 - DRIVE AXLE LOCATION 4 - 6 mm HEX SOCKET
1. Drop headliner down as needed to gain access to the motors, see REMOVAL. 2. Disconnect the module electrical connector. 3. Manually position the front drive assembly about 300 mm (12 inches) open, see STANDARD


DRIVE ASSEMBLY - FRONT
1 - BEVEL 2 - TEAR DROP 3 - FRONT DRIVE END CAP 4 - NYLON BUTTON 5 - DRIVE LINK
1. Install the drive links (5) onto the drive assembly end caps (4) with the tear drops (2) toward the caps (3), the bevels (1) out and the nylon buttons (4) up.
2. Push the drive cables into the tracks leaving the hole in the cable end (3) exposed.
NOTE: It may be necessary to twist the cables while pushing to fully install the cables.
3. Insert the rear of the drive assembly (1) into the drive channel. 4. Connect the drive links (4) to the drive cable ends (3) and make sure that the nylon buttons (2) are facing up.

5. Push the drive assembly back into the tracks.

14. Insert the nylon pin (2) with the slot in the end in the horizontal position. 15. Seat the pin (2) fully. 16. Manually position the front and rear drive assemblies about 300 mm (12 inches) open, see STANDARD

1. Remove the front drive assembly, see REMOVAL. 2. Remove the three screws (2) and separate the rear motor (3) from the roof system.
NOTE: Discard the screws (2) and replace with service screws and washers.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) and remove the motor.
4. Manually position the rear bow and drive assembly (1) forward about 300 mm (12 inches).

5. Separate the headliner hook and loop strip (3) and expose the drive mechanism. 6. Remove the five screws (2) and separate the cover assembly from the drive (1).
7. Slide the cover and slider assembly (2) out of the front of the tracks and roll up backwards as you go. 8. Remove the cover assembly from the vehicle. 9. Slide drive assembly forward and remove. 10. Pull cables out slightly.

13. Manually position the rear drive assembly about 300 mm (12 inches) open, see STANDARD
