Installation3 steps
ℹ NOTE
Do not reuse the old steering wheel bolt (a new bolt must be used)
ℹ NOTE
Be certain that the steering wheel mounting bolt is tightened to the proper torque specification to ensure proper clockspring operation.
  1. Install steering wheel to the column
  2. Install the new steering wheel bolt. Tighten the bolt to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
  3. Install the drivers side air bag. Driver Air Bag - Installation.

ℹ NOTE
Ensure the puller jaws (1) are seated in the pockets of the steering wheel armature.

  1. Disable and remove the drivers side airbag.Driver Air Bag - Removal.
  2. Partially remove the steering wheel bolt and leave the bolt in the column.
  3. Install puller special tool puller (2) with OTC(R) 7929A jaws (1) or equivalent using the top of the bolt (3) to push on.
  4. Remove the steering wheel.

1. Disable and remove the drivers side airbag. Refer to REMOVAL . 2. Partially remove the steering wheel bolt and leave the bolt in the column.
3. Install puller special tool L-4407A puller (2) with OTC® 7929A jaws (1) or equivalent using the top of the bolt (3) to push on.
NOTE: Ensure the puller jaws (1) are seated in the pockets of the steering wheel armature.
4. Remove the steering wheel.
