Instrument Panel Upper Bin - Installation3 steps
△ CAUTION
Carefully align the upper center tray clips to the instrument panel slots. Make sure the panel is properly positioned to avoid breaking the clip tabs on the bin.
  1. Align and install the instrument panel bin to the instrument panel.
  2. Use hand pressure to engage the instrument panel bin clips to the instrument panel slots.
  3. Install screws underneath the bin mat and tighten.

  2. Using a trim stick or equivalent, remove the end cap bezel from the instrument panel assembly.

  1. Before proceeding with the following repair procedure, review all warnings and cautions. Service Precautions
  2. Separate the kneeblocker upper clips (1) and rotate the cover (2) down.
  3. Slide the kneeblocker (1) over and disengage the hinges (3).
  4. Using a trim stick or equivalent, separate the center bezel upper clips (2) and center clips (3).
  5. Rotate the upper part of the center bezel (1) down and disengage the lower clips (4).
  6. Using a trim stick or equivalent, separate the five cluster bezel clips (5) along the back edge of the driver side top cover (1).
  7. Using a trim stick or equivalent, separate the clips securing the top cover (1) to the passenger side top cover (3).
  8. Pull the top cover (1) rearward and separate the front clips (6) securing the cover to the instrument panel and remove the cover.
  9. Remove the A-pillar trim (3). A-Pillar Trim Panel - Removal
  10. Remove the screw (1) and the cluster bezel (2).
  11. Using a trim stick or equivalent, separate the lower clips (2) and release the cluster bezel (1) from the instrument panel.
Instrument Panel Upper Bin - Removal2 steps
△ CAUTION
Carefully disengage the retaining clips on the instrument panel bin, make sure the tool does not scratch the instrument panel assembly while removing.

  1. Remove the screws underneath the bin mat and remove bin.
  2. Using a trim stick or equivalent, release the clips attaching the instrument panel bin to the instrument panel.

  1. Before proceeding with the following repair procedure, review all warnings and cautions. Service Precautions
  2. Position the cluster bezel up over the steering column and tuck the seal (1) behind the upper column cover (2).
  3. Position the ducts (3) into the instrument panel.
  4. Seat the cluster bezel and seat the lower clips (2) fully.
  5. Install the screw (1).
  6. Install the A-pillar trim (3). A-Pillar Trim Panel - Installation
  7. Position the top cover (1) over the cluster bezel and opposite side top cover (3).
  8. Seat the rear clips (6) fully.
  9. Seat the clips into the top cover (3) and seat the remaining five clips (5) into the cluster bezel fully.
  10. Position the center bezel (1) back into place and engage the lower clips (4).
  11. Position the bezel up over the radio and seat the center and upper clips (2 and 3) fully.
  12. Position the kneeblocker hinges (3) onto the instrument panel receivers (2) and slide the hinges (1) into place.
  13. Position the top of the kneeblocker (2) up against the instrument panel and seat the clips (1) fully.
Instrument Panel Center Bezel - Installation6 steps
△ CAUTION
Push down on the elbows (1) at the top of the bezel during installation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the upper elbow hooks and cause a rattle.

  1. Before proceeding with the following repair procedure, review all warnings and cautions. Service Precautions
  2. Position the bezel back into the vehicle and connect the electrical connectors.
  3. Secure the lower hook type fasteners (1) of the bezel (2) into the slots of the instrument panel.
  4. Locate the elbow hooks (1) at the top of the shift bezel (2).
  5. Position the bezel up over the radio and seat the top elbow hooks (1) into the I/P slots (2) fully.
  6. Seat the center and upper clips (1 and 2) fully.

Instrument Panel - Installation26 steps
⚠ WARNING
Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable. Wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
ℹ NOTE
Before starting this procedure, be certain to turn the steering wheel until the front wheels are in the straight-ahead position.

Before proceeding with the following repair procedure, review all warnings and cautions.
△ CAUTION
Make sure the clips located at the center stack and between the HVAC duct and instrument panel are engaged before tightening the upper instrument panel bolts.
△ CAUTION
Carefully align the defroster grille clips to the instrument panel slots. Make sure the panel is properly positioned to avoid breaking the clip tabs from the defroster grille.

  2. Install the instrument panel to the vehicle.
  3. Connect the two electrical connectors.
  4. On the right hand drive models, connect the electrical connectors.
  5. Install the fastener to the lower instrument panel attachment.
  6. Install the fastener to the upper instrument panel attachment.
  7. Install the glove box. Instrument Panel Glove Box - Installation
  8. Install the fasteners to the center instrument panel attachment.
  9. Connect the following electrical connections: -The control head. -The lighter. -The switch bank.
  10. Install the instrument panel center bezel.
  11. Install the two bolts to the bottom side of the pedal support bracket.
  12. Install the two bolts at the front of the pedal support bracket.
  13. Connect the electrical connector at the inner side of the pedal support bracket.
  14. Install the bolts (2) attaching the instrument panel (1) to the body (3) and tighten to 28 Nm (20.5 ft. lbs.).
  15. Install the defroster grilles. Defroster Grille - Installation
  16. Install the steering column to the vehicle. Steering Column - Installation
  17. Install the bolts (1) and tighten to 6 Nm (55 in. lbs.).
  18. Install the nuts (2) to the lower instrument panel mounts and tighten to 30.5 Nm (22.5 ft. lbs.).
  19. Install the right and left cowl side panels. Cowl Trim Panel - Installation
  20. Install the kneeblocker. Kneeblocker - Installation
  21. Install the instrument panel support bracket and nuts and tighten to 28 Nm (20.5 ft. lbs.).
  22. Install the floor console. Service and Repair
  23. Install the close out panels and the bolts to the lower I/P and tighten to 2.5 Nm (22 in. lbs.).
  24. Align the right and left A-pillar trim tabs on the moldings (3) to the top cover slot of the instrument panel (1).
  25. Align the two clips on the molding, to the slots (2) on the A-pillar. Snap the A-pillar trim molding (3) into place using hand pressure.
  26. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
Instrument Panel - Removal25 steps
⚠ WARNING

Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the position of the steering wheel.
△ CAUTION
Carefully disengage the retaining clips on the defroster grille. Make sure the tool does not scratch the instrument panel assembly while removing.

  1. Before proceeding with the following repair procedure, review all warnings and cautions. Service Precautions
  2. Loosen the battery terminal nut and use a battery terminal removal tool (2) to disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery (1).
  3. Remove the right and left A-pillar trim moldings using a small pry tool or equivalent, lift the A-pillar trim molding (3) from the A-pillar slots (2) releasing the clips on the molding.
  4. Remove the fasteners and close out panels from the lower instrument panel.
  5. Remove the floor console. Service and Repair
  6. Remove the nuts and the instrument panel support bracket.
  7. Remove the kneeblocker. Kneeblocker - Removal
  8. Remove the right and left cowl side panels. Cowl Trim Panel - Removal
  9. Remove the bolts (1) and remove the nuts (2) from the lower instrument panel mounts.
  10. Remove the steering column from the vehicle. Steering Column - Removal
  11. Remove the defroster grilles. Defroster Grille - Removal
  12. Remove the bolts (2) attaching the instrument panel (1) to the body (3).
  13. Disconnect the electrical connector at the inner side of the pedal support bracket.
  14. Remove the two bolts at the front of the pedal support bracket.
  15. Remove the two bolts from the bottom side of the pedal support bracket.
  16. Remove the instrument panel center bezel.
  17. Disconnect the following electrical connections: -The control head. -The Lighter. -The switch bank.
  18. Remove the fasteners from the center instrument panel attachment.
  19. Remove the glove box. Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal
  20. Remove the fastener from the upper instrument panel attachment.
  21. Remove the fastener from the lower instrument panel attachment.
  22. Disconnect the two electrical connectors.
  23. On right hand drive models, disconnect the electrical connectors.
  24. Remove the electrical connections on the instrument panel harness.
  25. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle compartment.
Instrument Panel Center Bezel - Removal8 steps
ℹ NOTE
The top of the bezel must be unseated first, then rolled back off the bottom hook fasteners.

  1. Before proceeding with the following repair procedure, review all warnings and cautions. Service Precautions
  2. Set the park brake and move the transmission gear selector into the most rearward position.
  3. Carefully pull on the vent divider (4) to gain enough clearance to insert a trim stick or equivalent (2), at the top between the bezel (3) and the storage bin (1).
  4. Once inserted, using a trim stick or equivalent (2), gently separate the upper center bezel (3).
  5. Rotate the upper part of the center bezel (1) down and release the clips (2) and (3) fully.
  6. Lift the center bezel up and release the lower hook type clips (4) fully.
  7. Reach behind the bezel to access and disconnect all electrical connections.
  8. Remove the center bezel from the instrument panel.

  1. Remove the steering column cover panel, Kneeblocker - Removal.
  2. Use a trim stick or equivalent, disengage the lower hinges of the steering column cover bin from the steering column cover panel.

  1. Install the steering column cover bin lower hinges to the steering column cover panel.
  2. Install the steering column cover panel, Kneeblocker - Installation.

  1. Carefully install the air outlet grille onto the back of air outlet and engage the plastic retaining tabs that secure grille to the outlet. Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged.
  2. Position the instrument panel air outlet(s) to the instrument panel and engage the two metal retaining clips to the instrument panel. Make sure the retainers are fully engaged.
  3. Install the screw (1) that secures the top of the air outlet (2) to the instrument panel (4). Tighten the screw to 1.2 Nm (10 in. lbs.).
  4. Install the A-pillar trim molding(s), A-Pillar Trim Panel - Installation.
  5. Install the defroster grille, Defroster Grille - Installation.

  1. Remove the defroster grille, Defroster Grille - Removal.
  2. Remove the A-pillar trim molding from the side of the vehicle being serviced, A-Pillar Trim Panel - Removal.
  3. Remove the screw (1) that secures the top of the air outlet (2) to the instrument panel (4).
  4. Using a trim stick or equivalent (3), gently pry the lower portion of the air outlet rearward to disengage the two metal retaining clips from the instrument panel and remove the outlet.
  5. If required, carefully disengage the plastic retaining tabs that secure the air outlet grille to the back of air outlet and remove the grille from the outlet.

1. Remove the defroster grille, see REMOVAL. 2. Remove the A-pillar trim molding from the side of the vehicle being serviced, see REMOVAL. 3. Remove the screw (1) that secures the top of the air outlet (2) to the instrument panel (4). 4. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent (3), gently pry the lower portion of the air outlet rearward to disengage the two metal retaining clips from the instrument panel and remove the outlet. 5. If required, carefully disengage the plastic retaining tabs that secure the air outlet grille to the back of air outlet and remove the grille from the outlet.

1. Carefully install the air outlet grille onto the back of air outlet and engage the plastic retaining tabs that secure grille to the outlet. Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged. 2. Position the instrument panel air outlet(s) to the instrument panel and engage the two metal retaining clips to the instrument panel. Make sure the retainers are fully engaged. 3. Install the screw (1) that secures the top of the air outlet (2) to the instrument panel (4). Tighten the screw to 1.2 N.m (10 in. lbs.). 4. Install the A-pillar trim molding(s), see INSTALLATION. 5. Install the defroster grille, see INSTALLATION.

CAUTION: Carefully disengage the retaining clips on the defroster grille, make sure the tool does not scratch the instrument panel assembly while removing.
1. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, release the rearward edge clips, and secondly once the rearward edge clips are released. Move in an upward and rearward direction to release the front edge clips of the instrument panel top cover. 2. Remove the defroster grille from instrument panel.

1. Position the defroster grille at a 45° angle and engage the forward clips first then engage the rear clips of the defroster grille to the instrument panel. 2. Use hand pressure to engage the defroster grille clips to the instrument panel slots.

1. Install the instrument panel to the vehicle. 2. Connect the two 40 way electrical connectors (1) and the Nag1 connector for the transmission, if equipped.
3. Install the fastener to the lower instrument panel attachment.
4. Install the fastener to the upper instrument panel attachment. 5. Install the glove box, see INSTALLATION.
6. Install the fasteners to the center instrument panel attachment. 7. Connect the following electrical connections: Control Head Lighter Switch Bank 8. Install the instrument panel center bezel.
9. Install the two bolts to the bottom side of the pedal support bracket. 10. Install the two bolts at the front of the pedal support bracket. 11. Connect the electrical connector at the inner side of the pedal support bracket.
CAUTION: Make sure the clips located at the center stack and between the HVAC duct and instrument panel are engaged before tightening the upper instrument panel bolts.
12. Install the bolts (2) attaching the instrument panel (1) to the body (3) and tighten to 28 N.m (20.5 ft. lbs.).

13. Align and install the defroster grille to the instrument panel. 14. Use hand pressure to engage the defroster grille clips to the instrument panel slots. 15. Install the steering column to the vehicle, refer to INSTALLATION .
16. Install the bolts (1) and tighten to 6 N.m (55 in. lbs.). 17. Install the nuts (2) to the lower instrument panel mounts and tighten to 30.5 N.m (22.5 ft. lbs.).
18. Install the right and left cowl side panels, see INSTALLATION.
